2. The Early Years Foundation Stage
The classes in early years – nursery and reception - follow the EYFS framework The Early Years Foundation Stage
There are 7 areas of learning and development:
Prime areas:

7. Understanding of the world

3. The Nursery provides opportunities for learning in all these areas.
Children learn through
planned and purposeful play.
a balance of child-initiated and adult-directed activities.
Every day there is a focus activity with an adult either one to one or in small groups
A range of activities inside and outside.
We choose a theme or topic for the week which may be linked to specific books and plan activities around the topic. This is put on our notice board every week. Our rhyme for the week is also on the board. Please help your child to learn the rhyme.

12. Library day
On Wednesday children can borrow a book from the school library which must be returned the following week. Parents can write in the yellow book any comments about how the child enjoyed the book.
Wow moments
Parents can write down something which your child has achieved or done extremely well which can then be read to the class.
Golden leaves
If your child has done something really well in school he/she will be awarded a golden leaf which is stuck on the golden leaf tree. A certificate is then taken home.
