Plus US$985 million from Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation = 14% of all contributions to the Global Polio Eradication campaign 2.5 billion children have received oral polio vaccine In 2016 > 450 million children vaccinated in 45 countries; 2 billion doses

Three strands of wild poliovirus - Type last seen 1999 - Type last seen Nov 2012 Eradication will be achieved when no wild poliovirus has been detected for 3 years Then routine immunization with OPV will cease in a phased manner Savings could be US$1 billion per year
