Thumb flexion test:The patient cannot flex the distal joint of the thumb.C. Wartenberg oriental prayer sign:Paralysis prevents extension of the thumb so its tip cannot reach its mate.D. Pen-touching test:The thumb cannot abduct to touch the object when the median nerve is paralyzed.E. The area of anesthesia:This includes the radial three digits of the palmar aspect and folds over the tips to the dorsal aspect where it covers the distal phalanges of the same digits (blue).
