5 Microeconomics Topic 1: The Economic Problem
What is the structure? Microeconomics Topic 1: The Economic Problem Introduction: define key terms (if applicable), do NOT state your conclusion! Main body: 4 points, one idea per paragraph; Make your point (K), explain it (AN), use examples (AP), include a diagram if relevant (K). Then (in a new paragraph) evaluate your point making it clear that you are doing this. You may state that your point may not hold because… or there may be different perspectives such as … etc. The final sentence in the paragraph must link back to the question. Conclusion: make a judgement based on the points you’ve made e.g. overall, are the effects good or bad? Can you criticise the evidence?

6 Planning and appearance
Microeconomics Topic 1: The Economic Problem Planning: try and plan your answer before you write; show the examiner your plan Appearance: marking essays is incredibly BORING! Be nice to the examiner: * Miss a line between every paragraph, maybe miss two lines between new ideas * Diagrams should be large and clearly labelled * Do not write around a diagram * If you have drawn a diagram you must refer to it * At the end of each paragraph try and refer back to the question
