1 IB Written Assignment - HL
You chose one of the stories we’ve read in class over the last two years. You “produce a piece of creative writing” based on the work of literature you have read in class. This cannot be in any way a form of literary criticism or a formal essay. Examples include: A new ending to a novel Interviewing a character A diary entry by one of the characters in a story or play A news report about an event in the story You choose a text type from this list: Article Blog / diary entry Brochure, leaflet, flyer, pamphlet, advertisement Interview Introduction to debate, speech, talk, presentation News report Official report Set of instructions, guidelines Written correspondence

3 The “Rationale” (150-200 words):
Briefly introduces the literary text or texts Explains how your written assignment is related to the texts States and describes your “aims” (what you want to say) Describes how you achieved your “aims” say how your text type helped the audience you chose the register and style you used (formal vs. informal; tú form vs. passive voice; some slang vs. none; negative vs. positive etc.)

4 Where and when do this? You will type this in class; we have three class periods. When you finish I will give feedback (like with a normal essay), and you will correct it.
