2 Mission Bergen County’s Division of Family Guidance provides clinical, residential, educational, correctional, case management, and monitoring services to at-risk children, adolescents, and families, particularly those who are otherwise unable to receive needed services “Helping people to help themselves”

6 Outpatient Programs Juvenile Family Crisis Intervention Unit (JFCIU)
Manages conflicts between adolescents and parents Addresses situations involving endangered juveniles including those who are “truant” or running away Has access to Bergen’s Place Youth Shelter and Family Court Serves as Central Intake Unit for many DFG programs

7 Outpatient Programs Adolescent and Family Treatment Program (AFT)
Outpatient therapy program Offers consultation, counseling, and therapy services For youth and families that are without insurance or without access to services Children’s After-School Treatment Services (CATS) Activity based therapeutic after school program Designed to improve social skills For elementary and middle school-aged children Play-based group therapy, art therapy & therapeutic recreational activities provided. Parent support services available

Multi-Systemic Therapy (MST) Federal “blueprint” program Addresses needs of juveniles with severe behavioral problems Provides intensive in-home therapy Adolescent Substance Abuse Program Outpatient substance abuse treatment program Offers evaluations, outpatient services, or referrals Referrals accepted from the community in addition to from the court

For young woman ages 16-22 Clinical services in a home-like atmosphere Assists young woman in achieving their full potential and mastering the skills needed for transition to adulthood Youth Resource Center After school and summer programming Visual arts, cooking, music, dance, and homework help available

10 Outpatient Programs Reflections/RISE Supervised Visitation program
Improvisational theatre group that explores adolescent issues For high school age teens Supervised Visitation program Allows non-custodial parent to visit with child in a safe, supervised environment

North Street School Suspension Alternative Program (SAP) Venture Venture Out

12 Educational Programs Bridges to Employment Connections
Job readiness, career development program for young adults ages 16-21 Assists participants in obtaining and maintaining employment Connections Structured HSE preparation program for young adults ages 16-21 Helps students obtain their high school equivalency diploma and prepare for college and/or employment

Alternative therapeutic educational experience For youth with behavioral needs Suspension Alternatives Program Collaboration between Special Services & Police Athletic League Intervenes with adolescents who are in conflict with their school systems Programming offered for youth who cannot attend school due to a suspension

14 Educational Programs Venture Venture Out Extended school year program
Addresses the therapeutic and educational needs of students who are psychiatrically fragile For middle & high school aged students Venture Out Provides intensive therapy and life skills curriculum Helps foster independence for year old students with psychiatric disorders

18 Delinquency Programs Alternatives to Detention Forensic Unit
Allows youth to remain in their community rather than at detention Ensures the youth’s safety and the community’s safety Forensic Unit Conducts court ordered evaluations Conducts risk assessments

19 Delinquency Programs Teen Education About Cyber Harassment (TEACH)
Teens Using Technology Responsibly (TUTER) Tolerance Education Acceptance & Respect (TEAR) Referrals from police departments and court Interventions and education for teens involved with cyber harassment, sexting, or hate/biased incidents Focuses on decreasing future similar behaviors Prevents further involvement in the judicial system

Outpatient program for juvenile sex offenders Focuses on eliminating further sexual misconduct Juvenile Detention Center Secure residence Temporarily houses youths who have committed a delinquent act and are awaiting court action

Monitors juveniles who have completed sentences Assists juveniles in making a successful transition to their families/communities
