. General Information on Art Metal Work and Literature were some of there greatest skills Most of the artwork made was based on Christian Ideas Only a few Anglo Saxon buildings remain Most of the remaining pieces consist of coins and pottery

Metal Work . Most of the metal was iron, bronze, silver, pewter, and gold However silver, pewter, and gold were mainly used for things such as jewelry Metal was polished with earwax because polishing wax was not yet invented Only the richest of the rich had solid metal objects everyone else’s metal was covered in flakes of the metal Metal Work took years of practice and once mastered one could make a big living in craft

Literature Originally written in some forms of Runic later translated into Latin, German and many other languages Literature Works have been around since about the mid-eighth century Mostly used for story telling and entertainment Religious text were also used Some political and history records Examples of Anglo Saxon Literature: Caedmon's Hymn, Beowulf, Translations of the Bible, and the Anglo-Saxon Chronicle .

. Stone Carvings were a very popular medium of the time and they were used in order to decorate buildings, churches, and also to honor fallen heroes.
