1 Human Body

2 Body organization and Homeostasis
Levels of organization Cell- basic unit of structure and function in a living thing Tissue-a group of similar cells that perform the same function Organ- is a structure that is composed of different kinds of tissue Organ system- a group of organs that work together to perform a major function Organism-a living thing

3 Function of cells Cells carry on the processes that keep organisms alive.

4 Tissues The body has four major types of tissue:
Tissue-a group of similar cells that perform the same function The body has four major types of tissue: 1) Muscle tissue-this tissue contracts only, by doing this it can make you bones move. (mover) 2) Nervous tissue- this tissue directs how the muscles move, the controller. (controller) 3) Connective tissue- Provides support for the body and connects the all its parts. (connector) 4) Epithelial tissue- this tissue is also know as your skin it cover the outside and inside of your body. (protector)

5 Organs and organ systems
We are going to learn about six different organ systems: 1) Skeletal system (bones) 2) muscular system (muscles) 3) Digestive system (stomach) 4) Circulatory system (Heart, blood) 5) Respiratory system (Lungs) 6) Nervous system (brain)

6 Homeostasis Homeostasis is the process by which an organism’s internal environment is kept stable in spite of changes in the external environment. Examples: Sweat Shiver
