ESTR Overview ESTR (Electronic Submission, Tracking, & Reporting System) is the IRB’s electronic submission system The ESTR application is a series of SmartForms where investigators enter information and attach files. Additional documents should be attached to the forms where appropriate, e.g. recruitment materials, consent forms and study tools.

My Inbox/Personal Page
My Inbox displays only items that require your attention My Inbox is specific to you. It is the default page in ESTR. My Inbox displays only items that require your attention.

General Site Layout and Finding Submissions
Submissions can be found via this search box based on many variables (e.g. PI name, department, submission type, etc.) Items listed on these tabs are limited to only those submissions in which the logged in person already has access Page Tab List Contents All Submissions All submissions entered into the system In-Review Submissions where IRB review is not yet complete Active Studies that are approved by the IRB and currently in progress Archived Submissions which are closed or withdrawn New Information Reports All Reportable New Information (RNI) submissions External IRB Studies where the IRB is relying on another institution’s review

Finding Submissions – Searching All Submissions tab:
Log in to ESTR, go to the All Submissions tab, use the search bar(s) to enter information you want to look up, click Advanced for more than one search option: If you do not want to search, and simply browse all of the ESTR records you have access to, you can scroll through the All Submissions tab:

To find IRB determination letters for a project:
Log in to ESTR, find the submission, view the determination letter at the top right of the workspace. Note that the letter you may be looking for might be on the Follow-On Submissions tab. Log in to ESTR, find the submission, click the Follow-On Submissions tab on the main study workspace. Click to view the PDF. OR:

To find the approved study documents of a project:
Log in to ESTR, find the submission, click the Documents tab on the main study workspace, click on the document link in the Final column to view the approved version. To save a document, right click and select ‘Save Link As.’

To find CITI Human Subjects Training details:
Log in to ESTR, find the submission, click the Project Contacts tab to view CITI Human Subjects Training details for all approved study team members: The Project Contacts tab will also display which study team members have financial conflicts of interests and/or will be involved in consent.

To find funding associated with a project:
Log in to ESTR, find the submission, click the Funding tab to view the funding associated with the project: All funding listed in ESTR is entered by the PI – whether it’s GMAS or Other funding. ESTR links to GMAS system; the IRB uses this information to ensure grant congruency. GMAS documents are not verified or updated by the IRB. The IRB relies on the PI/proxy for all information or questions regarding their funding.
