1 A THANKSGIVING PERSPECTIVE
Sermon PSALM 33 A THANKSGIVING PERSPECTIVE

2 Anxiety is coursing through American society
Anxiety is coursing through American society. It has become its own destructive character on the national stage Worry alters the atmosphere of the mind. It shrinks your awareness of the present and your ability to enjoy what’s around you right now.

3 It cycles possible bad futures around in your head and forces you to live in dreadful future scenarios, 90 percent of which will never come true. Pretty soon you are seeing the world through a dirty windshield.

4 Worry and anxiety are the practice of theology.

6 ARE YOU A PEEP HOLE CHRISTIAN?

7

8 David Wells, God in the Wasteland –
Secular writers force us to read the world from within a framework absent of Gods’ moral will and saving intentions. His truth and his Christ are never the criteria of meaning or importance for them, or for their intended audience.

9 The biblical authors see everything from a theocentric viewpoint
The biblical authors see everything from a theocentric viewpoint. They compel us to read the world from this perspective to see it in relation to the moral character of God and the ways in which he has disclosed his saving intentions in human history.

10

11 The Bible was written to an audience of those who rarely, if ever, expected to be in a position of security and political power.

It is the character of God that inspires the praise of God. We are called to read our world, and all the daily headlines from a God centered perspective.

22
