What are the main components of environmental governance in Ukraine? What are the instruments of environmental policy and their roles in environmental governance in Ukraine? How do environmental auditors, scientists and governmental workers see an environmental audit and how does it compare to existing legislation?

4 3.Theoretical Framework
The Concept of Environmental Governance The Actor-network Theory (ANT) The “Community of Practice” Theory (CoP)

5 The Concept of Environmental Governance
refers to the sum of: organizations, policy instruments, financing mechanisms, rules, procedures and norms that regulate the processes of global environmental protection. (Najam, Papa et al. 2006:9)

6 The Actor-network Theory (ANT)
a concern with how actors and organizations mobilize, juxtapose and hold together the bits and pieces out of which they are composed; how they are sometimes able to prevent those bits and pieces from following their own inclinations; and how they manage to turn a network from a heterogeneous set of bits and pieces each with its own inclinations, into something that passes as a punctualized actor. Law 1992:386

7 The “Community of Practice Theory (CoP)
Communities of practice are groups of people who share a concern or a passion for something they interact regularly (Wenger 2006). Professional associations are establishing because people are seeking to get and share knowledge, and building a communication networks with others who are working in the same field.
