Abstract
The Ninth International Undergraduate Research Symposium (IURS-9) took place at the Visayas State University, May 16 to 20, The symposium included a tour of the campus and courtesy visits to the University President and the Mayor of Baybay City. There were 22 posters and 6 oral presentations along with visits to PhilRootcrops, the Carabao, Abaca and Coconut Research Centers, visits to a sugar mill and the Geothermal plant along with the exploration of four islands between Leyte and Bohol.

Attendees participating in getting to know each other.
Assessment
Assessment of IURS-9 showed that the overwhelming majority of the attendees found the activities to be very important. Information about applying to graduate school was not presented and this needs to be incorporated into future IURS symposia.
