4.5 persons 6.9 persons 1.6 persons Simple households constitute the vast majority. Complex households only 1 in 5. Complex households are not very “complex.” Usually nuclear family plus 1-2 persons. It is not very usual for single persons to live alone. 1 in 20 households is a single person household. This is probably due to the economics of single living.
