Attachment to an immovable bone Often numerous origins for optimum force throughout the range of motion Insertion Attachment to a moveable bone When contraction occurs, the insertion moves towards the origin

Muscle Type based on fascicle arrangement

Prime mover—muscle with the major responsibility for a certain movement. Muscles that are normally trained during weight training. Antagonist—muscle that opposes or reverses a prime mover

Synergist—muscle that aids a prime mover in a movement
Synergist—muscle that aids a prime mover in a movement. They are not meant to be the main action causing muscle for the desired movement.

Fixator—(special type of synergist)
stabilizes the origin of a prime mover
