The Abutment Retrieval Tool is made of stainless steel, sterilizable and reusable. Two versions of the tool are available, one for NP internal conical connection and one for RP internal conical connection (the platform size is laser marked on top of the two pieces – see below).

3. Abutment Retrieval Tool Zirconia Conical Connection

Indications:
The abutment retrieval tool can be used to remove zirconia abutments from implants with internal conical connection NP and RP. The tool may be used to remove a zirconia abutment if the abutment is stuck into implant connection due to the tight conical seal.
Note:
Prior to using the retrieval tool the abutment screw needs to be removed.
Contraindications:
Do not use abutment retrieval tool for other purposes than removal of zirconia abutments for implants with internal conical connection with NP or RP prosthetic interface. Do not use retrieval tool for removal of titanium abutments.

The Abutment Retrieval Tool consists of two pieces, Engaging pin (A) and Activating needle (B).
Sterility:
The abutment retrieval tool is delivered non-sterile and should be pre-cleaned and sterilized prior to use. For steam sterilization of abutment retrieval tool, sterilize at 135°C/274°F, for 5 minutes.

5. Abutment Retrieval Tool Zirconia Conical Connection

Remove abutment screw.
Insert the engaging pin into the abutment until it reaches a stop.
Note: The engaging pin has to be pushed in rather firmly to reach its end stop. There is first an intermediate stop that has to be passed before the pin is in final position.

Assemble the tool by inserting the activation needle.
Squeeze the abutment retrieval tool parts together using e.g. a hemostat or pliers until the abutment is released.

Remove abutment together with assembled tool from implant.
Remove the activating needle (A) first and continue to pull, by hand, the engaging pin (B) from abutment.
