Who we are Our aim at Auspicious is to provide you with all the security and advantages of working with a larger organisation, whilst you remain independent and in control of your work. We provide assistance with the day-to-day management and administration of the project, including looking after budgets, artist agreements, payments, invoicing, payroll, superannuation, worker’s insurance and claims and GST/tax compliance. We auspice both government grants and non-funded projects and artistic income and we can guide you to the most likely sources of funding and support for your project.

Live Performance Award
Live Performance Award - this sets out employment rates and conditions for performers, dancers, musicians and production staff. Directors, Designers and Producers do not come under the award and are paid more by industry standard. Equity Rates VS Award Rates. Employee or Contractors?

Superannuation When paying an artist or production staff member more than $450 in a calendar month, by law they are entitled to superannuation. Contractors paid mainly for their labour are employees for superannuation guarantee purposes. This is the case even if the contractor quotes an Australian Business Number (ABN). For more information:

Workcover Workcover insurance – this protects your workers in case of accident/injury. It covers medical expenses and wages. As a sole trader you cannot cover yourself for Workcover. You need to cover employees if you pay over $7,500 per annum in wages. For more information:

Royalties Writers: (As outlined by the Australian Writers Guild) Commissioned or Licensed Plays: • Professional: 10% of the gross box office receipts. • Amateur: - $75 per performance for a play that occupies the full program and $45 for a short play billed with others; OR - 10% of the gross box office receipts where admission price and size of house are comparable with professional theatres. Other Creatives: Anywhere from 0.5% -5%
