1 Uncomfortable Realities
A Discussion on the Final Judgment

2 Uncomfortable Realities
GOD WILL JUDGE MEN MEN WILL BE LOST JUDGMENT WILL BE FINAL

3 God Will Judge the Souls of Men
In Righteousness 26 And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation; 27 That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us: 28 For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring. Acts 17:26–28 (KJV 1900) It is righteous for God to judge men’s souls As creator, judgment is His right He has made Himself accessible so that we might meet His purpose

4 God Will Judge the Souls of Men
By Jesus Christ 31 Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead. Acts 17:31 (KJV 1900) This role of final judge is unique to Christ - Acts 10:42 Due to His role as King - Matt 25:31-34,41,46 Due to His incarnation - John 5:27

5 God Will Judge the Souls of Men
By Jesus Christ 39 And we are witnesses of all things which he did both in the land of the Jews, and in Jerusalem; whom they slew and hanged on a tree: 40 Him God raised up the third day, and shewed him openly; 41 Not to all the people, but unto witnesses chosen before of God, even to us, who did eat and drink with him after he rose from the dead. 42 And he commanded us to preach unto the people, and to testify that it is he which was ordained of God to be the Judge of quick and dead. Acts 10:39–42 (KJV 1900) This role of final judge is unique to Christ - Acts 10:42 Due to His role as King - Matt 25:31-34,41,46 Due to His incarnation - John 5:27

6 God Will Judge the Souls of Men
By Jesus Christ 31 When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory: 32 And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats: 33 And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left. 34 Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: Matthew 25:31–34 (KJV 1900) This role of final judge is unique to Christ - Acts 10:42 Due to His role as King - Matt 25:31-34,41,46 Due to His incarnation - John 5:27

7 With Absolute Assurance
God Will Judge the Souls of Men With Absolute Assurance 31 Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead. Acts 17:31 (KJV 1900) The promise of judgment is absolute Through the resurrection, God has demonstrated both the power and the will To doubt judgment is to doubt that God exists

8 Religious Men Will Be Lost
22 So Paul stood in the midst of the Areopagus and said, “Men of Athens, I observe that you are very religious in all respects. Acts 17:22 (NASB95) The men of Athens were seeking a god, but their actions were not enough God had not intervened but “now commandeth all men to repent” One cannot seek God through man’s inventions

9 Ignorant Men Will Be Lost
23 For as I passed by, and beheld your devotions, I found an altar with this inscription, TO THE UNKNOWN GOD. Whom therefore ye ignorantly worship, him declare I unto you. Acts 17:23 (KJV 1900) “…what you worship in ignorance” NASB Their total ignorance was unacceptable (vs. 27) God sent His Son to “declare Him” (Jn1:16-18), His Spirit to speak of Him and His Apostles to proclaim Him

10 Men Will Be Lost Good Men Will Be Lost
30 “Therefore having overlooked the times of ignorance, God is now declaring to men that all people everywhere should repent, Acts 17:30 (NASB95) Surely hell is reserved for the overtly wicked??? “No one is good except God alone” Mark 10:18 Only the Gospel can save Romans 1:16-17

11 Judgment Will Be Final He hath appointed “a day”
31 because He has fixed a day in which He will judge the world in righteousness through a Man whom He has appointed, having furnished proof to all men by raising Him from the dead.” Acts 17:31 (NASB95) He hath appointed “a day” A pronouncing of sentence, not a trial for consideration Opportunity is yours NOW!!
