Research Mathematics instructors who teach primarily through lecture often neglect to meet the learning styles of all students and, therefore, may unintentionally perpetuate mathematics anxiety (Hodges, 1983; Zaslavsky, 1994). Elementary mathematics classes can be considered to be the beginning point of mathematics anxiety (Harper & Daane, 1998).

Reasons I chose this tool
I wanted to pick an assessment tool that teachers could use for Math I wanted a tool that would enable teachers to get to know the needs and expectations of their students I wanted something that acknowledged students’ different learning styles

About My Assessment Tool
Designed for intermediate Math “Initial” reflection would be handed out at the beginning of the term “Interim” reflection would be handed out periodically throughout the term Students are required to reflect on their own experiences with Math Allows the teacher to get an idea of how the students feel about Math

because the purpose of the assessment is for greater learning achievement Assessment as Learning because it develops and supports students’ active participation in their own learning (metacognition)
