Principles for Stakeholder Engagement
Identify the stakeholders and the role these will play in the evaluation. Promote an inclusive and diverse stakeholder engagement with a tailored approach by stakeholder Engage stakeholders early on and throughout the evaluation process Seek opportunities to engage with stakeholders in order promote an evaluation culture

Ensure communication with stakeholders is clear and tailored to their specific needs
Abide to the highest ethical standards in engaging with evaluation stakeholders, ensuring respect and sensitivity to stakeholder’s diversity and human rights Seek and use stakeholders’ feedback on the evaluation process for effective learning and continuous improvement of evaluation practice

Challenges and considerations
Focus of the document: Principles vs. guidance document > good practices Level of participation from some agencies Reaching consensus > different perspectives Participatory approaches> independence (Principle 2) National evaluation capacity (Principle 4) Time required to consolidate inputs and draft document

Way forward Proposal 2017-18 workplan
Circulate draft document to wider UNEG group for comments Revise and finalize document based on comments received > consultant support might be required Submit for endorsement by UNEG
