Energy is stored in bonds
Through the process of Cellular Respiration, the Mitochondria breaks apart a molecule of the simple sugar Glucose and releases the energy!

7. STRANGER-C All life processes require Energy
The energy molecule for all living things is Adenosine Tri-Phosphate (ATP)
From ONE little molecule of the simple sugar Glucose (C6H12O6), the Mitochondria produce 36 molecules of ATP!

9. Outer Membrane Cut around the shape along the solid lines only…
NOT THE DOTTED LINES!
Cut up along four small black lines to make slits…
DO NOT CUT ALL THE WAY!

10. Outer Membrane Fold up sides along dashed lines…
Make side walls by folding them up

11. Outer Membrane
Fold the ends around linking slits to make ends of model. Tuck flaps into the inside of model and tape them together
Repeat at both ends

12. Now… The Inner Membrane and Matrix!
