Beckwith Tap changer with TapTalk

Materials Needed 10 gauge Drop cord recommended
9pin-9pin Null modem cable Computer with 9pin port Beckwith M2001B Instruction Manual Variable transformer Table to set computer on

Getting Started Make connection from computer to M2001B control panel COM1 port Make connection from 120VAC receptacle to motor power in ports on control panel Make connection from 120VAC outlet to variable transformer and from the variable transformer to the voltage in ports on control panel. (connect 3 wire conductor to control panel and ground it to cabinet) Connect voltmeter in parallel with the voltage in ports on the control panel where your variable transformer is connected.

Powering up Bring power to the control panel by flipping the toggle switch to “on” on the variable transformer Turn knob to approximately 120V by reading your voltmeter (variac numbers around the knob may not be accurate) Plug in drop cord from motor in ports to your outlet (this allows the tap changer to go through stepping as needed) Turn on computer go to TapTalk icon (you may have to search for it under the start menu)

TapTalk Settings Once TapTalk has booted up, an access menu will appear Leave boxes unchecked and drop down menus blank In the control box, your COM Address should be set to 0 Control COM Protocol- BECO 2200 PC Communication Device- Serial COM Port PC COM Port- COM1 PC Baud Rate-9600 Leave remaining boxes unchecked

Using the Control Panel
Use up and down arrows to find what you want to change Press ENTER button to select, There will be a letter “C” in the bottom right hand corner of the screen. Press enter again to enable changing the setting, the “C” will then blink. Once you are done, press enter again to disable changing the setting. Use this to change the bandwith, bandcenter, and time delay.

Using TapTalk To change settings from the computer, go to control setup and click on setpoints This will bring you to a screen where you can change all settings in the tap changer control

Operation Once you have set the setting to your desired points……
Drop the voltage on the variable transformer by decreasing the knob below your bandwith, check to see that the voltage regulator steps properly This also works when the voltage rises above the bandwith, the regulator should then step in the opposite way.
