The Speed test suggests superior labral tear when resisted forwardflexion of the shoulder causes bicipital groove pain. The O'Brien test isperformed with the arm adducted to the front of the chest with the shoulderflexed 90° and the thumb pointed downward. In this position, the arm isflexed upward against the examiner's downward-directed force. Pain with thismaneuver is typical in patients with superior labral tears. The Jobe relocationtest causes posterior-superior shoulder pain in abduction-external rotationthat is relieved by posteriorly directed force on the proximal humerus. Painrelief by this maneuver suggests superior labral tear.
