2. WHAT IS ENL? ENL stands for English as a New Language
Students who tested below the commanding level on the NYSESLAT test will be given services by an ENL teacher
Levels of ENL:
Entering
Emerging
Transitioning**
Expanding**
Commanding
**Average level of my current students

3. How will I help my students this year?
Help students to pass the NYSESLAT test (they’re almost there! )
Help support them in their ELA and Social Studies classes
Practice reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills
Provide strategies that students can use in their other classes to make them stronger readers and writers.
Create lessons that are fun but also help to prepare them for the future!

4. What do I expect from my students?
Be prepared with your materials!
Do your HW logs
Stay focused and try your best
Don’t give up too easily- I am always here to help!
Respect everyone in the room
Expect the best from each other, especially yourselves 

At the end of the week, each student from the table with the most points wins a prize from the table prize box.

Class Dojo is an app where I will track student progress and behavior
It is also a place where I can communicate with parents through text message to send reminders or discuss any other important issues.
Messages between parents and myself can be translated into any language!
Class Dojo is also available in Spanish!

If you cannot sign up for class dojo, please leave your and/or phone number with me today so that I may have the best way of contacting you if needed
Monitor HW Vocabulary Logs (Students are given one word every night to complete in their vocabulary logs)

10. Parent Portal and PTO
Progress reports and report cards will NOT be mailed home.
You can sign up for Parent Portal, which will allow you to view your child’s grades, progress reports, and report cards.

Please join the PTO or help out in any way that you can   

11. Communication and Contact Information
It is very important that there is an open line of communication between the school and the parents/guardians.
If at any time you have questions or concerns, you can me. I check my s daily. You can also call the school at and leave a message. If an appointment is necessary, Mr. Coster in the guidance office can arrange a meeting with all teachers.
