Connected… Aligned… Engaged
Employee Engagement Let me start by asking you what you see here December and tourists will soon be flocking too the beach>What needs to bee done with the driftwood? Connected… Aligned… Engaged
2
Potential And turn them into something of beauty:
How does all of this link EE? (SG if 2 hour workshop) So much potential in organisations that can be developed, lying dormant. Can be reached through engaging employees This is important, because
3
Paddlers Employees who are fully on board, not only physically but also mentally and emotionally Paddlers FOCUS on what is important to the organisation and, put their ENERGY into driving the organisation forward
4
What engagement is about
Link to two sides of employee engagement
5
Needed to sustain The extent to which employees feel an emotional connection to the organisation, care about the organisation and its future and are prepared to put in discretionary effort to help it survive and thrive The extent to which employees experience that the organisation and its leadership care about them, care for them and have their best interest at heart If employees need to care about the organisation and do their best for the organisataion, then it is only fair that they expect the company and its leaders to care about and for them in return. This is what rational engagement is about. Without rational engagement, emotional engagement cannot be sustained. Like glass of coke that is left untouched on table, fizz soon evaporates, like fire that is burning bright now, but burns out when new wood is not being added to the fire to keep it burning Employees want to be valued and provide value in return.

“Before our people were carrying on with life like men trapped in an underground mine with no light and little air. Now they are of the darkness of the mine to the surface where everything regarding their journey in life is now crystal clear and the burst of fresh air has given them hope for better things to come.” Amos Kakompe, Learning and Development Manager, Zambian Breweries (SABMiller)

The challenge WorkQ really lights the flame, brings passion and energy and focus to people’s work. But this flame can been snuffed out when staff return to the workplace and find that the environment is not further building engagement, but actually breaking it down. To present this from happening we will not only work on staff level to increase the connection they have with the organisation so that they will contribute more fully, but also work at helping your organisation create/strengthen an environment and culture that will sustain engagement.

Bob Nelson “You get the best effort from others not by lighting a fire beneath them, but by building a fire within them.” Motivators are what really builds that fire within people that Dr Bob Nelson talks about Ensuring the motivators are in place brings about this type of motivation True, deep, sustained (not the rah rah that wears off after a day) The internal drive – which is what high EE is really about Helps people push through even if all of the satisfiers not perfectly in place (Credentials: Considered world’s leading experts on employee motivation, performance, engagement, recognition and rewards. He is president of Nelson Motivation Inc., a management training and consulting company located in San Diego, California that specializes in helping organizations improve their management practices, programs and systems.
