American Immunization Registry Association--AIRA
To promote and advocate for universal population-based registry standards. To contribute to the development and maintenance of immunization registries. To advocate for immunization registries through legislation, policy development and public information. To build stronger partnerships with and between public and private registries, vendors, providers and federal agencies. To collaborate with agencies and organizations, both domestic and international, on issues of concern to immunization registries. Brief description and goals

Work Group Goals Work group identified the goals of:
documenting the IIS community consensus for data elements and definitions Supporting interoperability efforts to communicate between systems Supporting agreed upon definitions for data elements and code sets to allow cross-registry analysis Support maintenance of HL7 Implementation Guide Coordinate with Messaging and Transport layer groups

How do you add a code or value?
The AIRA website has a link to request new or changed codes The Data Definition work group will review each request The Steering committee will prioritize AIRA will coordinate with external organizations like HL7 organization

Conclusions In 2 years the work group has agreed on a mission
Reviewed existing codes and code sets Created a tool to consolidate community agreed upon codes and their definitions Begun work on a process to accept requests for new or changed codes or code sets.

Conclusions Working together takes time and effort
Consensus decisions promote standards acceptance Including all sides assures that the needs of all are addressed
