Presentation of the eTendersNI service Business Intelligence Module
2
Reporting and Statistics
ePPS and CPMS already support advanced reporting functionality Reports on users, reports on organisations, reports on suppliers Reports on call for tenders Auditing reports Evaluation reports Tender opening report Clarifications report Contract reports Savings reports Financial reports Ad-hoc reports on CPMS data (Dynamic reports on CPMS data) BI reporting allows to support additional reporting requirements not already covered through the above (e.g reports communicated by CPD)

Architecture of the BI module
EUROPEAN DYNAMICS - e-Sourcing - Tender Presentation Architecture of the BI module 4 23 February 2009 4
5
Data Warehouse (DWH) All analytical and reporting activities are executed on the DWH, populated with data copied from the production environment (data populated overnight). This approach prevents performance issues on the Production environment
6
Reports on the BI module
The creation of ad-hoc reports with the BI module requires the creation of a project using the following tools: BI Module: This module forms the core server component of BI, allowing users to access a central online service, entirely web based. BI Studio: It is an open source client application for creating custom reports and other analytical documents.
7
Single Sign On (1/2) Single sign on point for the eProcurementNI modules (ePPS, CPMS, BI) Users are not required to login again while navigating between module
8
Single Sign On (2/2) Logged in Buyer user can visualise a top bar for navigation between modules

10
Key features supported by BI module
11
BI Data Warehouse Data synchronisation, import and transformation of data is performed automatically through overnight refresh between CPMS/ ePPS and the BI module Data transformation through automated scripts Mapping of CPMS/ePPS data representation into BI data set Queries, reports and statistics executed on complete data set No data cleansing required Dynamic reporting module
12
BI Data Warehouse
13
Analytical reports The user can create analytical reports on the data sources available within the BI module Configure the data cube measures, field position and associate filters for each field. Drill-down through the different dimensions of the data cube.
14
BI Data Warehouse
15
Report Creation and Design
2 supported alternatives for the creation of Template reports Online through a Report builder/ wizard Simple approach Allows the quick creation of reports in a simple format Support report preview functionality Parameter driven Offline through a BI Studio Requires the installation of a client tool / Designer Can be utilised by user for supporting more design capability / flexibility
16
Template Report Creation and Design (1/2)
The user can create ad-hoc reports online through a Report builder/ wizard functionality Selection from different report chart template layouts Customise the report fields and data sources to be utilised; etc.
17
BI Data Warehouse
18
Template Report Creation and Design (2/2)
The Admin may also utilise BI studio to create and upload reports and analytical documents State-of-the-art report designers such iReports, BIRT, etc.
19
User dashboard Dashboard can be configured by Admins for instance to display key reports Allows the creation of cockpit view configured for each user role Allows adding components in the cockpit (e.g. reports, documents, links, etc.)
20
BI Data Warehouse
21
Report and analytical report management
After their creation, reports and analytical documents can be stored under the BI folder structure, as dynamic reports / simple documents shared with other users. BI Admin can define access rights for the BI module folders.
22
Report / Analysis scheduling
The user can schedule the distribution of a report or analysis among individual users or group of users (e.g. distribution lists, etc.)
23
BI Data Warehouse
24
Data Warehouse BI modules utilises its own database for storage of data received from Different Data Sources Such approach minimises risks of data corruption, performance issue, etc. Currently BI integrates with ePPS and CPMS Data Sources Data is copied/ synchronised with the production environment overnight Support of other external Data Source is possible in future Such support would require analysis of data source, cleansing, mapping, testing of Data source, etc. and such configuration should be analysed on a per case basis
25
BI Data Warehouse
26
Reports from external data
Reports can also be created from external data sources in standarised format (e.g. CSV) A Dataset wizard guides users on selecting and formatting the data of the data source into a Data model. Aggregations, measures, etc. can also be added to the data imported.
