Agatha christie Named Agatha Christie Agatha Mary Clarissa born Miller was born September 15, 1890 in Torquay, Devon, England. She is an American father and British mother, however, Christie has never declared or have U.S. citizenship.

She is the first marriage is not happy with Colonel Archibald Christie, a pilot of Royal Air Force. The couple married in 1914, had a daughter, Rosalind Hicks, and divorced in 1928. In 1930, Christie married the archaeologist Max Mallowan younger than her 14 years of age.

Agatha Christie died January 12, 1976 at the age of 85, in Wallingford, Oxfordshire. Her only child, Rosalind Hicks, died October 28, 2004 also at 85, and now her grandson, Mathew Prichard are all copyrighted works of Grandma.

Agatha Christie is a British mystery writer. She also wrote romances under the pen name Mary Westmacott, but is still remembered with more than 66 pen and Agatha Christie mystery novels. With two famous detective character, Hercule Poirot and Ms. Marple. Christie was considered the "Queen of mystery" and is one of the important writers and most creative of the genre.

According to the Guinness Book, Agatha Christie is a writer whose works of all time best seller of the detective genre, and second if the other categories just behind William Shakespeare. Estimated there were about a billion copies in English and about a billion copies printed in 103 languages Christie's works are sold. An example of the attractiveness of the works of Agatha Christie abroad she also authored best-all time in France with 40 million copies sold in French (as until 2003), ranked second while the French writer Emile Zola was only 22 million.

Her play The Mousetrap holds the record also plays were performed in the long history of London theater, first released in theaters Ambassadors Theatre November 25, 1952 and continue to be held so far with the 20,000 performances. In 1955, Christie was the first to be awarded the Grand Master Award of the American detective writers. Almost all her works have been adapted into movies like Murder on the Orient Express, Death on the Nile, 4:50 From Paddington, many other works are also made into a TV or video games

From 1920 to 1976 she had all the work over 65 detective stories and 22 total collection of short stories along with six works written in pen name Mary Westmacott. from 1928 up to now in 2005 she had over 30 plays including as many different categories: radio drama, plays, television.
