Fantasy or Realism? Created by TEACHERS UNLEASHED
2
Maybe you can help… See if you can learn about fantasy and realism, to help teach the people in my kingdom, so they are no longer confused. Sadly…all the people and animals in my kingdom have lived here in Fantasyland for so long that they have forgotten the difference between fantasy and realism. Good evening young lords and ladies. I am King Fredrick of Fantasyland. I rule over a large kingdom filled with wondrous sights to behold.
3
What does FANTASY mean? When you say something is fantasy or make-believe, then it is something that is not real. Most of the time, it is something created by someone’s imagination. If something is fantasy or make-believe, then it is something that cannot happen in real life. Example: The dragon flew over the kingdom, looking for a meal. This is an example of fantasy, because dragons are not real.
4
The chipmunk slept in a bed of acorns.
What does REALISM mean? When you say something has realism then it is something that can really happen. Things that are realistic or have realism do exist in the world. You can find them somewhere on Earth. Example: The chipmunk slept in a bed of acorns. This is an example of realism, because chipmunks and acorns do exist on Earth.
5

the forest. FANTASY This sentence shows fantasy since unicorns do not exist in real life, even though forests are real.
