5 basic parts Character Setting Conflict Plot Theme

character Protagonist: Main character involved in the central conflict. Not always “the good guy.” Antagonist: The other character involved in the central conflict that is opposing the protagonist. Not always “the bad guy.”

setting Historical moment in time and geographical place where the story takes place. Sets the mood for the story.

conflict Disagreement, opposition, or argument that drives the action of the story. Man vs. Man Man vs. Self Man vs. Nature Man vs. Society

plot The ordering of events in a narrative. The author’s role is to determine the most effective sequence in which to tell the story.

theme The subject of and lesson learned from a narrative work. Think about the theme sentence stem from your song analysis chart.
