Student Life School Meeting 21 November 2017

2 Student Wellness & Mental Health Services
NUS moves to strengthen mental health services Set appropriate homework/assignment load and review the CA submission deadlines for essential modules of the same level are staggered. Design and allow different pathways for at-risk students to receive education and/or complete assessments. Academic Units should provide face-to-face consultation when: Student misses handing in 2 significant assignments/continuous assessments (CA) of a module within a semester A student’s raw CAP drops by 0.5 within a semester or drops below 2.0

3 Student Wellness & Mental Health Services
All faculty members, students and staff are part of a community that actively looks out for each other. If you notice any student in need, direct them to resources available – Counsellors in CPS/Psychiatrist in UHC/SoC Student Life. Encourage more academic staff to attend Supporting Individuals During Difficult Times (SIDT) course. *Academic staff are not expected to be counsellors. If you detect at-risk students, please refer them to the appropriate channels.

4 Internship Updates Coop Programme
17 students signed up for the programme 15 companies on board TalentConnect System unable to handle SoC requirements of: Allocating academic supervisor to students Monthly report submission and feedback Input grades Move to new system may require more human intervention Coop programme – CFG still negotiating with more companies. TalentConnect – Grading ‘solution’ is to use IVLE. However, that will require more action from academic supervisor to form sub-classes of students they are supervising.
