Story behind
Inspired by the Thematic Capitalisation Strategy of the South East Europe (SEE) which capitalised on the knowledge of the 122 SEE projects

designed to streamline the process of creating synergies between projects and capitalising on results of previous initiatives
the wealth of knowledge generated by the 122 SEE transnational partnerships contributed to meet socio-economic challenges in SEE

3. DTP Capitalisation Strategy (2)
DTP Capitalisation Strategy is enabling synergy building between the DTP projects, as well as with other projects funded by other financial instruments
This is the first phase which will make it possible for the projects to:
get to know each other’s work,
establish professional links in order to cooperate, and
score better outcomes and results through peer learning, benchmarking, etc.
DTP JS created different Thematic Poles (TPs) based on the EUSDR Priority Areas to reinforce the links between the Programme and the Strategy and to foster the capitalisation opportunities.
Project partners will:
build synergies,
help and learn from each other, and
capitalise on previous results.

4. DTP Capitalisation Strategy – main goals (1)
foster linkages between projects related to similar topics (Thematic poles);
create a higher leverage effect by enabling projects to exploit and consolidate one another’s achievements
enhance the visibility and impact of both project and Programme
reinforce the links between the Programme and the Strategy and foster the capitalisation opportunities.

5. DTP Capitalisation Strategy – main goals (2)
To valorise and further build upon the knowledge resulting from projects working in a thematic field 
To fill knowledge-gaps by linking actors with complementary thematic specialisation, experiences, methodological approaches or geographical scope
To increase the visibility of the projects and the programme and to ensure their impact on the policy making process at local, regional, national and European levels 
To strengthen strategic thematic networks
To encourage the wider take-up of project outcomes from outside the DTP
To contribute to the design and/or implementation of future transnational cooperation in the area

7. DTP Capitalisation Strategy – activities
DTP Capitalisation Strategy provides the list of capitalisation activities which includes (but not limited to): 
Joint communication actions (e.g. newsletters, etc.) 
Joint thematic meetings to exchange on projects' content and outputs                   
Joint thematic studies and policy recommendations 
Peer review or benchmarking of project outputs 
Exchange visits between projects, if this enables cross- fertilisation and/or take-up of results                     
Joint dissemination activities such as joint (final) conferences addressing common stakeholders

9. Innovative Ecosystem brings together organisations and partners whose main goal is to enable and foster technology development and innovation through combining complementary resources, systems and support, with a clear goal to generate new products, features, processes, services or value.

10. RDI framework support TP main aim is to contribute to improvement the framework conditions for research and innovation in the Danube region. Particular focus is put on policy dialog and development of new tools and instruments as well as on knowledge transfer, capacity building and awareness raising within the quadruple helix. The two main thematic fields are related to Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI) and Research infrastructures (RI). POLE LEADER: project Ms Ines Marinkovic, Center for Social Innovation (AT)

11. Entrepreneurial Learning Systems fosters cooperation between key stakeholders of labour market, education and research policies in order to develop learning regions and environments that shall jointly increase the innovative capacities of the labour force in the Danube Region

12. Four projects in this pole address different issues related to water management: steering land use to safeguard water resources and reduce flood risk; coordinating sediment management along the Danube river; developing an integrated river basin and flood risk management plan for the Tisza River Basin; improving drought monitoring, management and emergency response in the Danube Region; they seek for synergies for the common benefit.

13. The six projects within TP5 focuse on cultural heritage in the Danube area aiming at preserving and valorising its richness as a catalist for development. The topics differ from supporting and expanding the European cultural routes by unveiling hidden cultural heritage, management of Art Nouveau heritage, valorisation of prehistoric landcsapes, to creation of DANUrB promenade, WWI heritage management and valorisation and green tourism development. 14. The common denominator of the projects within this TP is MOBILITY (mobility solutions) by tackling different aspects such as: promotion of e- mobility and walking, creation of cycling connections between touristic places along the Danube river, development of urban mobility plans and better integration of public transport, design of traveler information services and development of sustainable transport infrastructure concepts. 15. Thematic Pole 7 (six projects) is committed to boost the inland waterway transport in a very comprehensive and practical approach (from the removal of administrative barriers along the Danube; improvement of inland waterway and infrastructure management, to the establishment of high performing ports and the protection of the Danube eco-system, creation of a harmonised pan-European qualification framework for the personnel on board ships). 16. Three projects in TP8 focus on sustainable energy and contribution to the security of energy supply in the Danube region (real-time energy management including smart grids, management of deep geothermal resources to produce heating energy and management of biomass supply chain along the Danube) POLE LEADER : the project DARLINGe, Ms Annamária Nádor, Geological and Geophysical Instutute of Hungary (HU)

17. Two DTP projects in TP9 (with further associated projects and initiatives inside and outside the Danube Region) focus on the following challenges: Lack of skilled labour force combined with high unemployment rates indicates serious labour market imbalances in the Danube Region, that highlights the need of a systematic shift towards more demand-driven and labour relevant educational schemes. 18. TP10 is responding to migration (one of the highest ranked topics on the political agenda in Europe) related challenges by clustering three complementary DTP projects. POLE LEADER: the project YOUMIG, Mr Béla Soltész / Hungarian Central Statistical Office (HU)

19. TP10 brings together three DTP projects working together on improving the evidence base and exploring new, innovative ways for civil society involvement and local governance.
Lack of inclusive approaches and effectively decentralized administrative structures are among the main institutional bottlenecks in the Danube Region.
