ADHD is rooted in the cortex/cerebrum but is not the only cause of hyperactivity or inattention. When anxious this part of the brain is said to ‘shut down’

Dopamine= reward driven learning. Provides ‘mini highs’ following successful decision making and problem solving
Strong links have been found between ADHD and impaired Dopamine production
It is harder for them to make considered decisions and to problem solve. When they do, they might not get much satisfaction or feel good about it.
