Confederacy Creation Myth
The religious tradition of the Iroquois was that a woman fell from the sky to stop the warring tribes. The tribes quit fighting and joined together to make a confederacy.

Iroquois Confederacy Led by Iroquois Great Council
Each tribe sent sachems (elected officials) to Great Council Made political decisions by voting ~50 sachems total Each tribe also had its own council to make local decisions
