EVENT OBJECTIVES To identify the causes of veldfires.
To identify the impact of the veldfires in different settings. To identify solutions to current problems and the remedy. Communal approach for different stakeholders involved in community projects and the approach thereto.

CAUSES OF VELDFIRES Arson – with aggravating intentions
Uncontrolled firebreaks and support structures Uncontrolled fires for day to day human use Mischief younger generation Nature caused incidents – lightning/spontaneous combustion Unsafe socio economic practices - household Lack of structured Fire Services and components Uneducated communities – lack of training/education Motor vehicle collisions Transportation of chemical Hazourdes substances

SOLUTIONS TO ACT & REMEDY
Identify all role-players as part of the solution I.e LAM, Councilors, Ward Committees, Fire Services, Youth and Committees as the driving force Identify risks and solutions Role out programmes with participation from all respective role players as an integral part of the solution. Initiate Fire Services, Councilors, Ward Committees as champions to continue and maintain projects Ensure that community participation stay a very important part of projects Governance in accordance to Acts
