PROJECT DETAILS Started In 2013
Funding Awarded to Horizon Fisheries 22nd September 2013 Funding Agreement Signed 19th March 2014 Retrofit Materials Sourced April 2014 Project Completed August 2015 Recognized as an Ozone Friendly Company 1st October 2016
17
Initially in 2013 we had 25,202.5 KG of R-22 Refrigerant being used in our equipment
18
HOW WE DID IT Case study on retrofitting R-22 was carried out
Feasibility study of project carried out and sourced for funding Funding for Retrofit Initiative
19
HOW WE DID IT Training of all staff involved in Refrigeration and awareness programs for everyone carried out under the support of Environment Ministry Certificate Level 3 Training provided at in-house Training Facility through Maldives Institute of Technology Under our CSR we ran training and awareness programs for regional operators with support of Environment Ministry
21
CHALLENGES OF RETROFITING
Why we chose R438a for our retrofit Easy to switch over Non flammable Not feasible to switch to Natural Refrigerants in our vessels. Still studying for low GWP refrigerant for vessels
22
CURRENT OPERATIONS 150 Tons/Day of ice production using Ammonia
Fish Storage 3000 Tons using Ammonia Brine Freezing 120 Tons/Day using Ammonia Process Plant Air-conditioning using Ammonia Fresh Fish Plant, Cool Rooms, Chiller Room and Blast Freezer has been retrofitted from R-22 to R-438a
23
CURRENT REFRIGERATION USAGE
R ,500 KG R438A – 700 KG R404A – 39 KG R134A – 27 KG R410A – 19 KG R23 – 15 KG
24
FUTURE ASPIRATIONS We hope to source a low GWP Refrigerant for the fisheries sector of the Maldives.
