3 ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 31 Structure
Dealing with Automatic Identification and Data Capture WG1 (data carriers) deals with data carrier specifications and related documentation for linear and 2-dimensional barcode symbologies. WG2 (data structure) deals with data structures for the process of automatic identification and data capture. (ex. ISO/IEC Unique identifier for transport units) WG3 (conformance) deals with conformance standards. WG4 deals with RFID issues for item management.

4 WG 4 Structure WG4 target application models WG4 structure
Business-purposes application models such as SCM, transportation, inventory management, etc. WG4 structure SG1 data encoding and application interface standards such as ISO/IEC 15961, 15962, and SG2 unique identification standard of RFID tags, ISO/IEC SG3 air interface standards such as ISO/IEC x series. SG5 RFID implementation guidelines such as ISO/IEC 24729

5 Mobile RFID Ad-hoc (1/4) “Mobile RFID” standardization initiative
WG4 meeting was held in Washington DC, USA, March 27. “Mobile RFID” standardization initiative was proposed, aiming at covering B2C-type RFID application models. Ad-hoc group was created to prepare for ToR Work items Gap analysis for new work items, extension issues and re-used standards Review of other SDO activities Cooperation topics

6 Mobile RFID Ad-hoc (2/4) “Mobile RFID” standardization initiative (cont’d) Ad-hoc group proposed WG4 SG6 or WG6. For WG 4/SG 6 in the area of mobile RFID - RF profile for mobile RFID - Mobile RFID service models - Uniform identifier naming - Application data format for mobile RFID services - Conformance test specifications Cooperative development between WG 4/SG 6 and other SDOs: - Common API sets, (with JCP) - DNS & NAPTR Extensions, (with IETF) - X.500, X.520 extensions, (with JTC 1/SC 6 and ITU-T SG17) - Mobile RFID service gateway architecture, (with ITU-T SG16) - Multi-UII resolution architecture, (with ITU-T SG16) - Adult verification, (with OMA) - Tag password acquisition protocol for mobile RFID services, (with ITU-T SG17) For WG 4/SG 6 in the area of sensor networks - Sensor-field to sink communications; Transmission media - Transport protocol; Anti-collision; Fault tolerance - TEDS, (with IEEE)

7 Mobile RFID Ad-hoc (3/4) “Mobile RFID” standardization initiative (cont’d) Ad-hoc group proposed WG4 SG6 or WG6. (cont’d) For WG 6/SG 1 - Uniform identifier naming - Application data format for mobile item management services For WG 6/SG 2 - RF profile for mobile RFID - Mobile RFID service models - Reader interface to mobile handsets - Conformance test specifications For WG 6/SG 3 - Profile for mobile ORM For WG 6/SG 4 - Physical layer – Sensor networks o Sensor-field to sink communications o Transmission media - MAC layer – Sensor networks o Anti-collision o Fault tolerance to sustain sensor network functionalities without any interruption - Transport layer – Sensor networks

8 Mobile RFID Ad-hoc (4/4) “Mobile RFID” standardization initiative (cont’d) WG4 meeting was held in Pretoria, South Africa, June 7. ORM (Optical Readable Media) is out of scope of WG4. WG 4/SG 6 cannot be established. WG4 cannot determine WG6. It was recommended SC31 take care for this issue.

9 MIIM Ad-hoc (1/2) SC31 meeting Held in Pretoria, South Africa, June 8.
It established MIIM (Mobile item identification and management in support of consumer applications) ad-hoc group. Ad-hoc group ToR ToR for the new WG Work items Gap analysis for new work items, extension issues and re-used standards Review of other SDO activities Cooperation topics

10 MIIM Ad-hoc (2/2) MIIM Ad-hoc meeting
Will be held in Seoul, October 30~31. Contributions are welcomed.
