2 How it works The guillotine is a device that was used to execute tyrants during the French Revolution. The victim was laid face down between the two supports and then the blade would be released and decapitate the human.

3 French Revolution During the French Revolution as many as 40,000 men and women where executed by the guillotine. At the height of the revolution the executioner killed 300 men and women in three days.

4 Famous People Executed
Louis XVI was beheaded by the guillotine on January 21,1793. The French king was charged for crimes against the people of France.

5 Marie Antoinette Marie Antoinette was executed shortly after her husband Louis XVI. She too was beheaded by the same guillotine.

6 Blade came down with 400 pounds of pressure
