Genetic Disorder: Breast Cancer
Breast Cancer is a common disease that affect many families today. 200,000 woman in the United States are diagnosed each year. Hereditary breast cancer ranges 27% of all breast cancer BRCA 1{ Breast Cancer 1} was identified on chromosome 17 BRAC 2 was discovered on chromosome 13 Parents with BRAC 1 or 2 have a 50% chance of passing that gene to their off springs Mammography/ Clinical Breast Exams Breast Cancer is a common disease that affect many families today. Nearly every year 200,000 woman in the United States are diagnosed with this disease. One out of nine women will develop breast cancer in the United States. There is a 5- 10% chance of a person getting breast cancer through hereditary. When a person carries a mutated form of BRCA 1 or 2 their chances of breast cancer or ovarian cancer increases. Individuals with high risk and a family history should get test, and clinical breast exams can detect the disease early. There are also a number of drugs and clinical trials that can reduce your risk of developing breast cancer by 50% in women. There is also a new genetic test that help determine between sporadic and hereditary forms of breast cancer. Every woman should have their women wellness check-up yearly, by having a clinical breast exam early you can detec many signs of tumors. References:
