1 Center for Teaching and Learning
Program Review Presentation May 5, 2010

2 Program Description The CTL provides high quality, comprehensive professional development programs to faculty, classified staff, management, and students. Programs address teaching strategies, increasing diversity awareness, culturally responsive instruction, safety, basic skills, and community building. Brief Description of your program. Who are you? One Slide, 2 minutes

3 Program -- Strengths The Center for Teaching and Learning provides professional development programs for faculty, classified staff, and managers. In addition, the CTL produces interesting college hour events, open to all staff and students. We are dedicated, energetic, resourceful. The variety of Co-Directors adds dimension to our program. We recognize the importance of ARC and State pd guidelines and plan all events with these in mind. We are organized and plan ahead. The CTL values new ideas.

4 Program -- Challenges Keeping the FTE at a fair and reasonable level.
Getting faculty interested in becoming a CTL co-director. Finding qualified, healthy, reliable student helpers who readily follow directions. Getting all staff to submit an online event evaluation after attending a CTL event. Having faculty completely fill out the 'Got Ideas?' form, instead of sending the CTL random, partial ideas via .

5 Planning Implications
Objectives addressing strengths identified in program review Student binder To strengthen orientation and diversity programs for faculty, classified staff and managers, while maintaining a comprehensive professional development program Improved and modernized our meeting and training space in the Library Objectives addressing challenges identified in program review To stabilize and institutionalize 1.0 FTE funding for the CTL director position. To improve and modernize Raef 160 to maximize comfort, aesthetic quality, and audio/visual capabilities for performances, readings, presentations, workshops, and trainings offered to ARC students and employees and to the Sacramento community at large. Getting faculty interested in becoming a CTL co-director. Resource allocations supporting these objectives We’ve received funding for computer equipment, furnishings for our new offices in the renovated library, as well as an extensive DVD collection of the College Hours. However, the most important funding are the salaries for our student help and co-directors. ARC Faculty might be more interested in becoming a CTL co-director if the funding was secure.
