Cindy Sherman is a famed American art photographer who specializes in self portraits. She dresses up to portray different women, and sometimes men. As a teenager, she found that, thru make-up, she could transform herself into a different person.

Many of Sherman’s photographs deal with female stereotypes. The photographs depict how she sees herself and others.

6. In the Untitled Film Stills of 1977, Sherman places herself in B-movie actress roles. She dresses up in wigs, hats and dresses. These stills are said to be the most recognized photographs of Sherman’s career.

Between 2003 and 2004, Sherman produced the Clown cycle. She transformed her face digitally, through Photoshop, by changing the shape of her features. In this photograph, she elongated her nose.
