3 Why I Selected Him I'm a huge basketball fan and John Wooden is one of my favorite coaches of all time. His leadership skills and beliefs that led him to success are amazing. He has done what is nearly impossible today in the world of sports and no coach has ever had success on the level that Wooden has and that inspires me.

4 Accomplishments In his long tenure with the Bruins he won an NCCAA record 10 national championships in 12 years. He has been inducted into the college basketball hall of fame and the national basketball hall of fame. He also has an award named him known as the wooden award which is given away every year to the most outstanding Division 1 NCCAA collegiate basketball player. This is known as the wooden award.

5 Universal Values John Wooden has many universal values, some of which are contained in his famous Pyramid of Success. He holds values such as reading often, especially from the bible, having and maintaining healthy relationships, and having self control. Other values he has are taking initiative in tough times when others wont, being bold and courageous when times get tough, and being enthusiastic and passionate in all things in order to achieve success and a higher quality of work than anyone else. Above all he has the universal values of passion, vision, preparation, courage, perseverance, and integrity.

6 Courage, Passion, and Vision
Wooden states in his Pyramid of success that in order to succeed you must show courage and have the desire to be the best at whatever it is your doing. Wooden also says that in order to be successful you must be passionate about what your doing. This is anything from waking up and not dreading the day already because of what you do but not being able to wait for what the day holds, to having a burning fire inside of you to be the best. Wooden had something that most people don’t, vision. He had the ability to see things through to the end even when they seemed impossible. He especially had vision when it came to developing players. He has had many good players play for including hall of famers Bill Walton, Lew Alcinder or Kareem Abdul Jabar, and Gail Goodrich. All of which had very successful NBA careers. Wooden had vision in order to see the development of these great talents all the way through in order to build successful teams.

7 Preparation, Perseverance, and Integrity
When Wooden retired he talked about what his practices were like, and he talked about how they went over intense scouting report. Wooden always wanted to be the more prepared team out of his team the opponent. He hired the best scouts available to get him the best scouting reports possible. All in all preparation was very important to Wooden. Wooden always spoke to his players about being able to stay strong and persevere when times got tough and in the face of adversity. Wooden told his players that being able to persevere in life and on the court would take them a long way, that was evident on the court when they won 10 national titles. If John Wooden were still here today he would probably tell us that if we need to have any of the values Integrity would be number one. He always told his players that integrity will take them just as far as perseverance would. Being honest in all situations is best even if it gets you in trouble, because the consequences will teach you valuable lessons even if they aren’t evident immediately.

8 Why is John Wooden a Good Mentoring for Young Adults
Wooden would be a great mentor for any young adults. With all the values and lessons that he teaches and stresses will help anyone through their entire life. Wooden knows what success is like and he can share his experiences with young adults so they can learn from that. Wooden is also a very good spiritual leader for any young adult. His pyramid of success can teach many lessons in itself but Wooden’s life and success can also teach many great lessons and help anyone in any stage of life improve themselves in all ways.
