Lockdown Procedure
2
What is a Lockdown? A Lockdown is a rehearsed crisis response plan that is activated once there is an actual or perceived threat of harm to students, staff, and/or visitors. The plan requires the participation of all employees to implement the plan in order to minimize the risk of injury.

Lockdown An announcement will be made over the intercom the building is in “lockdown”. The strobe light will be turned on to alert the staff and students in the cafeteria and gym. If a person reports information that leads to the lockdown, it is important to obtain the persons name, address, and telephone number to provide to police. Staff and students on the exterior of the building will be notified by intercom and/or walkie-talkie. If the danger is inside the building those at recess should seek cover or concealment immediately in the area behind the community pool building to the east of campus.
4
Lockdown Call 911 to report the situation, stay on the line, follow instructions given by the 911 operator. The bells will be turned off. The district staff including administrators, teachers, or support personnel will not be used at any time to search the building. Searches during lockdown are the responsibility of trained police personnel. McKinney PD have been provided access to MISD facilities and will not require assistance to gain access.
