Building: Kista Science Tower, Kista (Stockholm) Year of construction: Size: 32 storeys, m2 double skin façade, floor area 700 m2/storey i.e. appr m2 Use: Office non-public, cell-type or open-plan office Architect: White arkitekter (participated during the entire building process) Contractor: NCC Facade contractor FFT – Feldhaus, Flexfasader, Trosa Glas Motive: Image, commercial property development project, fully glazed façade to give a feeling of volume Principle of façade construction: Two of the three facades are double skin facades, the third (to the north) is a single skin facade. The double skin facades are of the type corridor façade with diagonal ventilation. In the cavity there are gangways on each floor and automatically controlled (2.7 m sections) perforated Venetian blind. Internal Venetian blinds will be installed on the north facade. The windows are non-openable. Façade construction, material: Prefabricate one-storey high aluminium construction Outer skin: 8/10 mm H, non-coloured Inner skin: double-pane sealed glazing units with LE glass, non-coloured, 1.35 m on centre HVAC: Balanced ventilation with heat recovery, indoor design temperature in winter 22 ± 1,5 ºC, in summer 24 ºC at design outdoor temperature + 26 ºC. Cooling from active cooling beams 2.7 m on centre. Cooling energy source is district cooling. Heating provided by radiators. Heating energy source is district heating. Light: No daylight control system, HF fluorescent lighting Fire: Every fourth storey is fire sectioned. The office areas are equipped with a sprinkler system. Energy use: 2004 Electricity 93 kWh/m²year, heating 111 kWh/m²year, cooling 42 kWh/m²year i.e. total energy use 246 kWh/m²year BESTFACADE, Åke Blomsterberg,
