This evening we will be discussing and reviewing our Title I program. We will be covering several topics that are important for parents and families to know. 4 What is a Title I school? TITLE I — Improving The Academic Achievement Of The Disadvantaged The purpose of Title I under the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) is to ensure that all children have a fair, equal, and significant opportunity to obtain a high-quality education and reach, at a minimum, proficiency on challenging state academic achievement standards and state academic assessments. A Title I school has qualified to receive federal funding under this act.

5 Title I Definition Title I provides federal funding to schools to assist students who are low achieving or at risk of failing behind. Title I is allocated to schools based on the percentage of free/ reduced lunch. School s with a percentage of at least 40% are eligible for a schoolwide program

6 How our School Spends Title I Money
Educational Supplies for children Personnel (Support staff RESSLA, After School tutoring) Transportation for students Parent Involvement Our Parent Resource Center (technology, books, programs, etc.) Title I Contracted Educators (Academic Specialist) After school instructional material

7 Liberty County High School operates a School Wide Title I Program
This means that all students , parents, and families benefit

8 Schoolwide means The school uses Title 1 funds to upgrade the entire educational program of the school. Title I funds are used to serve all children in order to raise academic achievement. Title I funds will be used to provide additional assistance to all students who experience difficulties in meeting the State’s performance targets.

10 Goals School year 16-17 School year 17-18
We will increase the 4-year cohort graduation rate from 88.5% for SY to 89.5% for SY 2. We will increase the percentage of 9th grade attempted course units of credit earned from 89% for SY15-16 to 90% for SY 3. The percent of students scoring within or above the Lexile stretch band on the ELA End of Course test for 9th Grade Literature and American Literature will increase by 2% percent. School year 17-18 The percentage of scholars scoring at Developing Learner or above on the Georgia Milestone (GMAS) EOC Assessment will increase by three percentage 3 points. Effects the following: Graduation Rate 9th grade Achievement Increasing Lexile Scores

17 Whether the student’s teacher:
In compliance with the requirements of the Every Student Succeeds Act, Liberty County School would like to inform you that you may request information about the professional qualifications of your student’s teacher(s) and/or paraprofessional(s). The following information may be requested: Whether the student’s teacher: Has met State qualification and licensing criteria for the grade levels and subject areas in which the teacher provides instruction; Is teaching under emergency or other provisional status through which State qualifications or licensing criteria have been waived; and Is teaching in the field of discipline of the certification of the teacher. Whether the child is provided services by paraprofessionals and, if so, their qualifications. If you wish to request information concerning your child’s teacher(s) and/or paraprofessional’s qualification, please contact LCHS at (912)
