Mammoth Fast Facts: Extinct relatives of today’s elephants Lived during the last ice age Probably about the size of African elephants Ears were smaller than those of today’s elephants. This was probably an adaptation to the cold climate that kept their ears closer to their heads and kept them warmer Tusks were very long, about 15 feet, and were used for sweeping snow away and defense against predators were herbivores and ate mostly grass Trunk was around 7 feet long

3 Elephant Fast Facts: trunk is about seven feet (two meters) long! Large ears used for listening and fanning away pests Live where the sun is usually blazing hot Very little hair due to hot climate about 11 ft tall Tusks can grow from 5-8 feet in length and are used for defense and digging
