Benefits of Repentance
Keys to Living Islam Benefits of Repentance
2
A great key to practicing Islam is to know and understand that Allah forgives all sins
As long as the person is sincere in his repentance meaning he has Stopped doing the sin Feels bad about it Is determined to not commit it again Makes restitution if the sin violated the rights of someone else If those conditions are met then Allah will forgive whatever the sin is – including adultery or even murder. Also the person must be free of associating partners with Allah

Listen to what Allah says in a beautiful Hadith Qudsi:
“O son of Adam! If you meet me in the state that your sins fill the earth, but not associating anything with Me, I would meet you with the same vastness of mercy and forgiveness on My Behalf.” Also Allah says in the interpretation of the meaning: “Say: O my Servants who have transgressed against their souls! Despair not of the Mercy of Allah: for Allah forgives all sins: for He is Oft- Forgiving, Most Merciful.” [Sûrah al-Zumar: 53]

Unfortunately so many Muslims who are lacking in their understanding of the deen commit sins and then feel hopeless The fact that they experience this hopelessness just shows that they do not truly understand the nature of themselves; for Allah created us to sin, and as we discussed before, if we did not sin, he would replace us with a creation that did - Why? Because he loves for us to turn to him and ask for forgiveness As the Prophet (sa) said: “Allah would sweep you out of existence and He would replace (you by) those people who would commit sin and seek forgiveness from Allah, and He would have pardoned them. (Muslim)

So thus repentance is like the cure for those who are sick and weighs heavy on the scales with Allah
For one thing, repentance leads to submission to Allah which is the path to salvation. For the person to do a bad thing and then feel bad about it before his creater, shows humility and acceptance that Allah truly is the Greatest Repentance also shows that the person recognizes that there is a force greater than he who holds him accountable for his actions Finally repentance removes arrogance from the heart of the person especially if done on a regular consistent basis

Listen to what Allah says in the interpretation of the meaning:
"Those (are the true believers) who, when they commit an evil deed, or wrong their souls, remember Allah, and seek forgiveness for their sins - and who but Allah forgives sins? They do not insist upon the sins they have committed, and they know (that Allah is forgiving)." (Qur'an 3:135) Also Allah says in the interpretation of the meaning: "And He wishes to forgive you" Qur'an (4:146).

So thus a great key in practicing islam is to be regular in repentance
So thus a great key in practicing islam is to be regular in repentance. As Allah says: “Hold to forgiveness; command what is right; and turn away from the ignorant.” ( Quran 7:199) 'Seek ye the forgiveness of your Lord, and turn to Him in repentance; that He may grant you enjoyment, good (and true), for a term appointed, and bestow His abounding grace on all who abound in merit! ,,” (Quran 11:3) "And O my people! Ask forgiveness of your Lord, and turn to Him (in repentance): He will send you the skies pouring abundant rain, and add strength to your strength: so turn ye not back in sin!" (Quran 11:52) “Why turn they not to Allah, and seek His forgiveness? For Allah is Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful.” (Quran 5:74)
