Antigone’s final words speak to her loyalty: “You will remember the things I suffer, and at what men’s hands, because I would not transgress the laws of heaven (4: 78-80)

2 Create a Memorial Create a memorial for the character, Antigone.
Poem A song A eulogy Artwork (no stick figures) Whatever mode you choose, your memorial should reflect an understanding of this “last unhappy daughter of a line of Kings” (Scene 4, lines 76-77). Will have rubric Must include a Sophocles “truism” (theme) on the artwork Must explain in written format: the memorial that you created and why you chose it a clear understanding of why Antigone is deserving of this memorial Include a specific scene from the play showing her loyalty

3 Sophocles’ Truisms Sophocles’ play, Antigone, contains many words of wisdom or “truisms” (suggest universal meaning). Below are the themes (“truisms”) and the scene:line number where the text is found. “Reason is God’s crowning gift to man” (3:52) “Must not any son value his father’s fortune as his father does his?” (3:71-72) “The reasonable thing is to learn from those who can teach” (3:91) “A good man yields when he knows his course is wrong, and repairs the evil” (5:34-35) “There is no happiness where there is no wisdom; No wisdom but in submission to the gods.”
