Primary teeth are nature’s “braces” or space holders for permanent teeth! This is why it is important to take care of your child’s teeth. UCLA Community Oral Health Program Module 4: Tooth Brushing Techniques & Flossing

2 Cavity Process Bacteria feed on the sugars and carbohydrates in our food and make acids These acids destroy the enamel that protect our teeth and over time, this causes decay. 8 Tooth brushing Tips Brush for 2 minutes 2 times daily

10 Flossing Go between the teeth with floss.

11 Flossers Begin flossing once daily when teeth touch each other.

13 Uncooperative and/or children with disabilities need extra help brushing their teeth.

14 Tooth brushing positions
UCLA Community Oral Health Program Module 4: Tooth Brushing Techniques & Flossing TIPS : Place your child on the floor and sit behind them on a chair/stool and tilt their head back into your lap. Lay them on the sofa or bed. If they do not stay still another person can help you gently to hold their hands and feet.
