Ms. Findley’s Weekly Newsletter
April 7th – April 11th What are we learning? Reading – Throughout this week we discussed the /oo/ sound as in “look,” identifying cause and effect relationships, using possessive pronouns, and writing poems. We read the anchor text Whistle for Willie and practiced identifying cause and effect relationships. We also read Pet Poems and learned how to write a poem about a pet or animal! Also, our Bunny Tales were completed with some bunny ears and cotton tails, and are hung in the hallway! Math – We took our Unit 8 Test this past Wednesday. The most difficult skill on this test was solving a number problem with coins. Because this question was missed by many, I took the time Thursday to review identifying coins and counting collections of coins. We will begin Unit 9 on Monday! Writing – We are still practicing the writing process when writing. Encourage students to keep writing and reviewing their own work. Important Dates April 18 – No school April 21 – SPIRIT DAY *Wear blue/yellow to support Mrs. Eck in the Boston Marathon! News Attention all Moms out there – Be on the look for a “special” invitation to come home on Monday! Also, because it is getting warmer outside we are taking students out for recess whenever possible. Students must have appropriate shoes to wear on the playground in order to play! You may have heard that I had to leave school early Friday. I heard good reports from the sub, so I am very proud of all of your children!
