Question 4 How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation?

The use of the use of media technologies was primarily used within the project for linking ancillary and primary pieces with the forms and conventions of both the genre and the design of the pieces. For the main poster the software is Photoshop was used for creating the main image and layout of the poster. This was used for the purpose of it being the easiest software to use for creating posters, especially when they are not text heavy and does not require a lot of text formatting. Although the poster does hold areas in which text is present, they are not the main details of the poster. Yes, the main title can be seen as a main detail, but this was a separate image that was created outside of Photoshop. Using Photoshop for this title only involved having the title cropped and reshaped, yet another reason why I used Photoshop and not another software, as the editing of images was the easiest with Photoshop. Photoshop was the more appropriate software to use for non-text heavy pieces such as the poster.

As for pieces that were text heavy, the double page spread, that used the software that is Adobe InDesign, this is a software that is primarily used for text heavy articles and allows easier access to formatting settings that would be found within articles than software like Photoshop. It allows the format of the double page spread to be even and flow smoothly in the easiest manor possible, whilst it does allow the creation of posters, and the editing of images, it is primarily used for the article making. How this allowed me to keep with the forms and conventions of the double page spread was by having the appropriate settings to allow the positioning of the text boxes and allow more variety within text. It also allowed me to have the upper cased starting letters of paragraphs, which is one of the many things that Photoshop did not allow. Within the construction of the film, Premier Pro was used. This was the most advanced option allowed for more effective editing for the film, more than formats like windows Moviemaker. It allowed the use of colour distortions, and also voice over and changers to be present within the film.

The main source of research within the planning and construction of the project was primarily done over the internet. This allowed quick and easy access too much different film spreads, scenes and posters for the project to take inspiration off. There was however elements of films that I ha e personally seen, as well as posters also. But in terms of technologies that were used for the majority of the project in terms of research, it was for the majority the internet.

In terms of filing the film, the cameras were the most high tech cameras as there was no access to better equipment. This is evident in some cases as the sound and picture quality of the film within areas (most notably within the one month later segment) were big indicators of where the quality of the film had dipped compared the rest of the film. These cameras were of coursed used for the filming process and were also used for some picture documentation of the filming process. For tis evaluation, the use of power point and Prezi were used. There reason for using two different pieces of software for this was that it gives a wide range of software types. Also, the evaluation was not suitable for a report like structure in word documents, so the usage of a presentation software was more appropriate for type of information.
